VOLUNTEER OPPORTUNITIES

Volunteer Opportunities will be sent to members through email when opportunities arise.

JOIN US FOR ONE OF OUR VOLUNTEER INFO SESSIONS AUGUST 31st 5:30pm OR SEPTEMBER 1st at 9am

There are many opportunities for parents to get involved!  If you are interested in our volunteer program we'd love to have you help us out!

It is the policy of PISD that ALL volunteers complete the district Volunteer Background Check EACH YEAR and clearance is necessary before being allowed to volunteer in any capacity.

The district processes all background checks and it can take up to two weeks to get clearance.  Because you share the same concerns about student safety, we know you understand why there will be no exceptions to this important rule.  If you have any questions about this policy or your application, please contact the PISD Administration.

SCHOOL EVENT COMMITTEES

The Light Farms PTO will hold several events throughout the year and we need your help!  If you are interested in serving on a committee, please register on our website and complete the Light Farms PTO Volunteer Interest Form.  You do not need to be a PTO member to volunteer for a committee, but registration on our website is required to sign up.  Sign Up Genius links will be used to request event volunteers and donations as we near the event.  Questions can be directed to Megan Noel at megandnoel@gmail.com.

CLASSROOM VOLUNTEERS

Additionally, if you would like to help in your child's classroom as a copy mom/dad, a field trip chaperone, or classroom volunteer, please contact your child's teacher, or are interested in being considered as a room parent for your child's classroom, please reach out to Amy Riordan at amyriordan@icloud.com.  We encourage all room parents to join PTO and be active members of the organization.

WATCH D.O.G.S.

Watch D.O.G.S. is a one-of-a-kind, school-based father involvement program that works to support education and safety.  It began in 1988 and has grown into a nationally recognized program that has brought hundreds of thousands of fathers and father figures into the school classrooms and hallways across the country, creating millions of "in school" volunteer time and having a tremendously positive impact on the education process.

Who are Watch D.O.G.S.? You are fathers, step-fathers, grandfathers, uncles, and other father figures who volunteer to serve at least one day a year at Light Farms Elementary, an official Watch D.O.G.S. school.  You may be asked to read, work on flash cards, play at recess, eat lunch with students, help with car line duties, or other tasks assigned by the school principal or other school administrator.  An official Watch D.O.G.S. shirt is required to be worn on your volunteer day.  More information to come on about this years shirts.  Military, policemen, & firefighters are welcome to wear their uniforms instead.  Want to become a hero of the hallway?
