About Watch Dogs

Watch D.O.G.S. is a one-of-a-kind, school-based father involvement program that works to support education and safety.  It began in 1988 and has grown into a nationally recognized program that has brought hundreds of thousands of fathers and father figures into the school classrooms and hallways across the country, creating millions of "in school" volunteer time and having a tremendously positive impact on the education process.

Who are Watch D.O.G.S.? You are fathers, step-fathers, grandfathers, uncles, and other father figures who volunteer to serve at least one day a year at Light Farms Elementary, an official Watch D.O.G.S. school.  You may be asked to read, work on flash cards, play at recess, eat lunch with students, help with car line duties, or other tasks assigned by the school principal or other school administrator.  An official Watch D.O.G.S. shirt is required to be worn on your volunteer day.  More information to come on about this years shirts.  Military, policemen, & firefighters are welcome to wear their uniforms instead.  Want to become a hero of the hallway?

Questions, please contact our Watch Dog Coordinator, Quin Harris at watchdogslfe@gmail.com

It is the policy of PISD that ALL volunteers complete the district Volunteer Background Check EACH YEAR and clearance is necessary before being allowed to volunteer in any capacity.

The district processes all background checks and it can take up to two weeks to get clearance.  Because you share the same concerns about student safety, we know you understand why there will be no exceptions to this important rule.  If you have any questions about this policy or your application, please contact the PISD Administration.
